Welcome to the official website of Team 1540, the Flaming Chickens! We are a high school robotics team based in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in our members and the community. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and teamwork, our students develop essential skills in engineering, programming, and leadership. As passionate advocates for STEM education, Team 1540 engages in numerous outreach events and initiatives to inspire and support younger generations. With a strong track record of innovation and success, the Flaming Chickens are proud to represent our school and community in regional, national, and international robotics competitions.

About Us

Ever since 2005, we have built new and innovative robots every year. This year we made PESTO, our robot for the FIRST robotics competition. With it, we managed to win the regional Clackamas event, be finalists in the Pacific Northwest Championship, and we even went to Houston and were semi-finalists in our devision - the best our team has ever done! We also picked up several awards along the way for Industrial Design, Innovation in control, quality, and gracious professionalism.

Robots

We also have an award winning community engineering projects. Team 1540 works alongside nonprofits, corporate partners, FIRST teams, and our community at large.

Outreach

We pride ourselves with our connection with the FIRST community. Since 2006, we have mentored over 15 teams and created community resources such as STEMcentric.

Over the years we have created events for the community like Girl’s Generation and BunnyBots. We also attend many events hosted by both our local and national communities.
