About Us
Since 2005, Team 1540, the Flaming Chickens, has competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Team 1540 comes from Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Oregon.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) is an organization founded to fulfill the purpose of its name by organizing robotics competitions for students at all levels. This isn't just an activity for people interested in classical engineering subjects. Learn more about our different departments here.
We receive the help of mentors from the Catlin Gabel faculty and local industries to help us learn our skills, but our competition robots are entirely student designed, built, and programmed. We are proud to say that during the build season, adults don't touch the robot or the keyboard.
